Applications open for Summer Music Workshops
********************************************

Summer Music Workshops organised by the Music Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will be held from July 15 to August 26. Music lessons for children aged 7 to 9 will be held in July, while music lessons for those aged 4 to 6 will be held in August. Applications are now open and will close on June 15.

The workshops aim to encourage the children to explore their interest in music and acquire basic music knowledge during the summer holidays. It is not necessary for participants to have received any music training beforehand. They will learn basic knowledge on music notes, letter names and rhythms, as well as about various Chinese and Western orchestral instruments and basic music theory. Through musical games and interactive activities participants will also be able to strengthen their rhythmic sense, listening skills and attentiveness. Children aged between 4 and 6 must each be accompanied by an adult in class.

The five lessons will be conducted in Cantonese with a total tuition fee of $220. A ballot will be held if the classes are oversubscribed. For classes not fully taken up after the deadline, applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Children who attend all five lessons will be given a certificate of attendance and invited to join one of the "Introduction to Musical Instruments" sessions to learn more about Chinese music, wind music or string music.

Application forms can be downloaded from the Music Office's website: www.lcsd.gov.hk/en/mo/activities/upcoming/2016summer_music_workshops.html. For enquiries, please call 2158 6466 or 2582 5321.
