Fatal traffic accident in Mong Kok

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Mong Kok this afternoon (May 5) in which a 70-year-old woman was killed.

     About 1.18pm, a public light bus (PLB) driven by a 69-year-old man was travelling along Prince Edward Road West westbound. When turning left into Sai Yee Street, it reportedly knocked down the 70-year-old woman who was crossing the road. She was once trapped underneath the PLB and was rescued by firemen.

     Sustaining serious injuries, the woman was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 1.59pm.

     The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
