CSSA caseload for March

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in March showed a drop of 292 cases, representing a decrease of 0.1 per cent compared to that of February, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (April 20).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of March stood at 242 903 (see attached table), with a total of 360 393 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.9 per cent and 0.5 per cent to 6 065 cases and 15 852 cases respectively, while single parent cases dropped by 0.4 per cent to 28 099 cases.

     Permanent disability cases and ill health cases also decreased by 0.3 per cent and 0.2 per cent to 17 797 cases and 24 417 cases respectively.

     Old age cases slightly increased by 0.1 per cent to 146 135 cases.
