Heritage Museum launches collection campaign for Jin Yong Gallery
**********************************************************

The martial arts novels of Dr Louis Cha (pen name Jin Yong) have over the years exerted profound influence not only on Hong Kong's popular culture but also on Chinese literature throughout the world. To introduce Dr Cha's literary career and the creative background of his novels to the public, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum will set up a permanent gallery in early 2017.

To enrich the contents and collection of the new Jin Yong Gallery, the museum is inviting members of the public to donate items related to Jin Yong martial arts novels. Through donating, people will be able to participate in recording and compiling information about Dr Cha's literary career and the impact of his works on the pop culture of Hong Kong. Items collected during this campaign may be introduced through feature articles and showcased in the Jin Yong Gallery.

The collection period will last from today (April 15) to the end of September. The scope of collection includes offprints of early Jin Yong martial arts novels from local publishers such as Sam Yuk and Kwong Sup Kee; newspaper and magazine columns featuring the novels; handwritten correspondence, calligraphy and manuscripts by Dr Cha; hand-drawn illustrations for the novels; magazine articles and theme songs from films and TV series related to the novels.

Interested parties can submit details of the items to be donated, together with their photos (image size not exceeding 1MB), dimensions, the production period and other related basic information as well as contact details by email to hkhm@lcsd.gov.hk, or by post to Hong Kong Heritage Museum, 1 Man Lam Road, Sha Tin, New Territories (please mark "Jin Yong Gallery Collection Campaign" on the envelope). For enquiries, please call 3691 8649.
