Transcript of remarks by SCED at media session
**********************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, at a media session in the Legislative Council Complex today (April 11):

Reporter: Mr So, regarding the telemarketing calls, what will be the schedule for conducting the public consultation? And apart from legislation, will there be specific measures that would consult the public?

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: The consultation, according to our plan at the moment, will be conducted within this year. And it is our intention to have different options for people to express an opinion on. Of course, with the help of this latest survey that we have conducted, people have a much better idea as to the situation at the moment as compared to the situation in 2009. I think this really has enlightened us, perhaps on the specific measures that we could introduce in the future to reduce the inconvenience caused our public. I must admit that, I've been in this job for a few years, the wish of the public is quite clear that this sort of person-to-person telemarketing call does generate a certain amount of inconvenience.
