Police will implement special traffic arrangements to facilitate a marathon event to be held in Kowloon East this Sunday (April 10).
Phase I (from 1am to 12.30pm)
A. Road closure
- Sha Tin bound Kwun Tong Bypass between its ramp leaving from westbound Eastern Harbour Crossing and its ramp leaving from eastbound Prince Edward Road East;
- The ramp of southbound Tseung Kwan O Road leading to Sha Tin bound Kwun Tong Bypass; and
- The ramp of southbound Wai Fat Road leading to Sha Tin bound Kwun Tong Bypass.
B. Traffic diversions
- Traffic from westbound Lei Yue Mun Road Underpass / southbound Tseung Kwan O Road heading to westbound Kai Fuk Road will be diverted to westbound Lei Yue Mun Road, westbound Kwun Tong Road and Kai Fuk Road flyover;
- Traffic from westbound Lei Yue Mun Road Underpass / southbound Tseung Kwan O Road heading to northbound Wang Chiu Road will be diverted to westbound Lei Yue Mun Road, westbound Kwun Tong Road, southbound Lai Yip Street, westbound Wai Yip Street, westbound Kai Cheung Road and southbound Wang Chiu Road;
- Traffic from westbound Lei Yue Mun Road Underpass / southbound Tseung Kwan O Road heading to westbound Prince Edward Road East will be diverted to westbound Lei Yue Mun Road, westbound Kwun Tong Road and westbound Prince Edward Road East;
- Traffic from westbound Lei Yue Mun Road Underpass / southbound Tseung Kwan O Road heading to northbound Tate’s Cairn Tunnel will be diverted to westbound Lei Yue Mun Road, westbound Kwun Tong Road and the slip road leading to northbound Tate’s Cairn Tunnel;
- Traffic from westbound Wai Yip Street / southbound Wai Fat Road heading to westbound Kai Fuk Road will be diverted to westbound Wai Yip Street and Kai Fuk Road flyover;
- Traffic from westbound Wai Yip Street / southbound Wai Fat Road heading to northbound Wang Chiu Road will be diverted to westbound Wai Yip Street, westbound Kai Cheung Road and southbound Wang Chiu Road;
- Traffic from westbound Wai Yip Street / southbound Wai Fat Road heading to westbound Prince Edward Road East will be diverted to westbound Wai Yip Street, westbound Kwun Tong Road and westbound Prince Edward Road East;
- Traffic from westbound Wai Yip Street / southbound Wai Fat Road heading to northbound Tate’s Cairn Tunnel will be diverted to westbound Wai Yip Street, westbound Kwun Tong Road, westbound Lung Cheung Road and the slip road leading to northbound Tate’s Cairn Tunnel;
- Traffic from eastbound Wai Yip Street heading to westbound Kai Fuk Road will be diverted to northbound King Yip Street, eastbound Shing Yip Street, northbound Cha Kwo Ling Road, westbound Lei Yue Mun Road, westbound Kwun Tong Road and Kai Fuk Road flyover;
- Traffic from eastbound Wai Yip Street heading to northbound Wang Chiu Road will be diverted to northbound King Yip Street, eastbound Shing Yip Street, northbound Cha Kwo Ling Road, westbound Lei Yue Mun Road, westbound Kwun Tong Road, southbound Lai Yip Street, westbound Wai Yip Street, westbound Kai Cheung Road and southbound Wang Chiu Road;
- Traffic from eastbound Wai Yip Street heading to westbound Prince Edward Road East will be diverted to northbound King Yip Street, eastbound Shing Yip Street, northbound Cha Kwo Ling Road, westbound Lei Yue Mun Road, westbound Kwun Tong Road and westbound Prince Edward Road East; and
- Traffic from eastbound Wai Yip Street heading to northbound Tate’s Cairn Tunnel will be diverted to northbound King Yip Street, eastbound Shing Yip Street, northbound Cha Kwo Ling Road, westbound Lei Yue Mun Road, westbound Kwun Tong Road and the slip road leading to northbound Tate’s Cairn Tunnel.
Phase II – Part A (from 6am to 12.30pm)
A. Road closure
- The unnamed road leading to Kai Tak Runway Park;
- Cheung Yip Street between Sheung Yee Road and Hoi Bun Road;
- Hung Yip Street;
- Eastbound Hoi Bun Road between Cheung Yip Street and Shun Yip Street;
- Westbound Hoi Bun Road between Kai Hing Road and Shun Yip Street;
- Tsui Hing Street;
- Eastbound Sheung Yee Road at grade between Wang Hoi Road and Wai Yip Street;
- Westbound Sheung Yee Road at grade between Cheung Yip Street and Wai Yip Street;
-Southbound Wang Hoi Road between Wang Yuen Street and Sheung Yee Road;
- Sheung Yuet Road between Wai Yip Street and Wang Hoi Road; and
- Siu Yip Street between Wai Yip Street and Tai Yip Street.
B. Traffic diversions
- Lam Chak Street will be converted to one-way eastbound;
- Kai Hing Road will be converted to one-way northbound;
- Traffic from northbound Cheung Yip Street heading to eastbound Hoi Bun Road or Kwun Tong area will be diverted to northbound Wang Chiu Road, eastbound Sheung Yee Road, flyover, eastbound Ngau Tau Kok Road, southbound Elegance Road, southbound Lai Yip Street and Hoi Bun Road between 10.30am and 12.30pm;
- Traffic from northbound Cheung Yip Street heading to Kwun Tong Bypass (Lei Yue Mun bound) will be diverted to northbound Wang Chiu Road, westbound Lam Fung Street, southbound Sheung Yee Road, eastbound Sheung Yee Road and southbound Wang Chiu Road;
- Traffic from southbound Wang Chiu Road heading to Kai Hing Road will be diverted to southbound Cheung Yip Street and eastbound Lam Chak Street;
- Traffic from westbound Hoi Bun Road heading to northbound Wang Chiu Road will be diverted to northbound Shun Yip Street, westbound Wai Yip Street, westbound Kai Cheung Road, southbound Wang Chiu Road, southbound Cheung Yip Street, eastbound Lam Chak Street, northbound Kai Hing Road and westbound Hoi Bun Road between 10.30am and 12.30pm;
- Traffic from southbound Wang Chiu Road heading to Hoi Bun Road or Kwun Tong area will be diverted to eastbound Sheung Yee Road, flyover, eastbound Ngau Tau Kok Road, southbound Elegance Road, southbound Lai Yip Street and Hoi Bun Road between 10.30am and 12.30pm;
- Traffic from southbound Wai Yip Street heading to Siu Yip Street / Tai Yip Street will be diverted to southbound Wai Yip Street, eastbound Tai Yip Street, northbound Tai Yip Street and Siu Yip Street;
- Traffic from northbound Wai Yip Street heading to westbound Sheung Yuet Road will be diverted to northbound Wai Yip Street, westbound Kai Cheung Road, southbound Wang Chiu Road, eastbound Lam Fung Street, northbound Wang Tai Road, eastbound Wang Yuen Street, northbound Wang Hoi Road and westbound Sheung Yuet Road;
- Traffic from eastbound Sheung Yuet Road heading to northbound Wai Yip Street will be diverted to northbound Wang Hoi Road, westbound Lam Hing Street, northbound Wang Kwong Road, eastbound Kai Cheung Road and northbound Wai Yip Street;
- Traffic from southbound Wang Hoi Road heading to northbound Wai Yip Street will be diverted to southbound Wang Hoi Road, westbound Wang Yuen Street, southbound Wang Mau Street, eastbound Sheung Yee Road, northbound Wang Hoi Road, westbound Lam Hing Street, northbound Wang Kwong Road and eastbound Kai Cheung Road;
- Traffic from northbound Wai Yip Street heading to westbound Sheung Yee Road will be diverted to northbound Wai Yip Street, westbound Kai Cheung Road and southbound Wang Chiu Road;
- Traffic from eastbound Wang Yuen Street heading to southbound Wang Hoi Road will be diverted to northbound Wang Hoi Road, westbound Sheung Yuet Road, southbound Wang Tai Road, eastbound Sheung Yee Road and northbound Wang Hoi Road;
- Traffic from eastbound Sheung Yee Road at-grade heading to Choi Hung Interchange / Telford Gardens will be diverted to northbound Wang Chiu Road and eastbound Kai Cheung Road; and
- Traffic from eastbound Sheung Yuet Road heading to Choi Hung Interchange will be diverted to northbound Wang Chiu Road and eastbound Kai Cheung Road.
Phase II – Part B (from 6am to 10.30am)
A. Road closure
- Hoi Bun Road between Shun Yip Street and Tsun Yip Street;
- Shun Yip Street between Hoi Bun Road and Wai Yip Street;
- Lai Yip Street between Hoi Bun Road and Wai Yip Street; and
- How Ming Street between Hoi Bun Road and Wai Yip Street.
B. Traffic diversions
- Traffic along westbound Wai Yip Street cannot turn left to southbound How Ming Street and southbound Lai Yip Street; and
- Traffic from southbound Lai Yip Street heading to Kowloon Bay will be diverted to westbound Wai Yip Street.
Phase III (from 6am to 9.30am)
A. Road closure (except for franchised buses and authorised vehicles)
- Shing Fung Road;
- The unnamed road connecting Shing Fung Road and Shing Cheong Road;
- Shing Cheong Road; and
- Cheung Yip Street between Lam Chak Street and Shing Cheong Road.
B. Passenger alighting arrangements
Drop off zone for taxis will be at Lam Chak Street.
Goods vehicle parking spaces on Lam Chak Street; goods vehicle parking spaces, metered parking spaces and motorcycle parking spaces on Cheung Yip Street; and goods vehicle parking spaces, metered parking spaces and disabled parking space on Hoi Bun Road will be suspended from 8pm on April 9 to 1pm the following day.
Any vehicles found illegally parked within the precinct of the above area will be towed away without prior notice.
Actual implementation of the traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the area. Motorists are advised to drive with care and patience and follow the instruction of the Police at scene.
