Police today (April 6) arrested an 87-year-old man in suspected connection with a murder and wounding case in Tseung Kwan O this morning in which an 80-year-old man was killed.
At about 5.27am , Police received a report from a staff member of an elderly home on Pui Shing Lane that two male inmates were injured after being attacked.
Police officers sped to the scene and found two men, aged 80 and 84, lying unconsciously on their beds with multiple injuries. The 80-year-old man was rushed to Tseung Kwan O Hospital where he was certified dead at 6.56am. The 84-year-old man was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Initial investigation revealed that the two men had been attacked by hard object. A drainage cover in suspected connection with the case was seized at scene.
Police arrested an 87-year-old man for murder and wounding. He is being detained for further enquiries.
Post-mortem examination will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.
Active investigation by the District Crime Squad of Kwun Tong District is underway.
