***********************************************************

International Internet service provider, systems integrator and software development company IPTP Networks announced today (April 5) that it has acquired a local telematics company and extended its services to GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) tracking solutions.

IPTP Networks acquired Wherr in 2013, and recently launched in Hong Kong the Wherr GSM tracking solution that can trace the location of people or items carrying an easy-to-use card-size device with high accuracy of a 250-metre range from any mobile infrastructure widespread in the city using the GSM technology. It has wide applications ranging from logistics to access control and likewise wide-area location-based services. The company is also developing an innovative, low-cost Wi-Fi tracker, which will have an even higher location accuracy of less than a 25m radius but longer battery life.

IPTP Networks CEO and Co-Founder Mr Vladimir Kangin said, "Hong Kong is widely recognised as a flourishing international business centre and a gateway to the rest of the world. It is a dynamic city with lots of business and networking opportunities that enables us to explore new business, as well as enhances service provision to local clients and potential business partners in the region."

He added, "Hong Kong is one of the leading global business hubs, many companies need to track their assets both locally and globally. Such a high demand in tracking solutions, combined with its well-connected network and close proximity to the world's leading manufacturing facilities in the southern Mainland, makes the city a perfect place to launch our new product."

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion Mr Charles Ng said, "Hong Kong's world class information and communications technology infrastructure, tech-savvy professionals, reliable power supply and robust enforcement of data privacy and security ensure that the city is an excellent location for telecommunication companies in the region. We're happy to see that IPTP Networks is developing in a new arena in Hong Kong."
