Correctional Services officers stopped a person in custody assaulting another person in custody at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre yesterday (March 28).
At 9.04pm, a 39-year-old male person in custody suddenly attacked a 41-year-old male person in custody in the observation ward of the centre hospital. The staff on duty immediately stopped the assault and called for reinforcements.
The victim sustained head injuries. After receiving treatment by the medical officer, he was transferred to a public hospital for further treatment.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The assailant has a history of drug abuse and was sentenced to imprisonment for the offence of theft.
