Travel Industry Compensation Fund open for application by customers of Kwan Kin Travel
**********************************************************

The Travel Agents Registry received today (March 24) the notification of closure from Kwan Kin Travel Services Limited (licence No. 350436) due to business difficulties. Its licence has been revoked.

The Registry has immediately activated the application mechanism of the Travel Industry Compensation Fund to enable affected travellers, who are eligible for ex-gratia payments under the Travel Industry Compensation Fund (Procedure for Ex-gratia Payments) Rules, to apply for ex-gratia payments, which shall be up to 90 per cent of the outbound fare lost.

The Registry reminds the affected travellers of Kwan Kin Travel to keep the original receipts, which should be franked or stamped so as to facilitate their application for ex-gratia payments from the Travel Industry Compensation Fund. Affected travellers may apply for ex-gratia payments with franked or stamped original receipts of the relevant outbound fares within 24 months from the date of loss of such fares.

The hotline of the Travel Industry Compensation Fund Management Board Secretariat (Tel: 3151 7945) and the hotline of the Travel Industry Council (Tel: 2969 8188) are available for enquiries from or registration of particulars by affected travellers. Telephone recording is available outside normal office hours (i.e. on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays and at any time before 9am and after 6pm on weekdays). Staff of the Secretariat will return their calls to follow up as soon as possible during office hours.
