The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in February showed a drop of 282 cases, representing a decrease of 0.1 per cent compared to that of January, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (March 23).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of February stood at 243 195 (see attached table), with a total of 361 332 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.2 per cent to 6 182 cases. Unemployment cases dropped by 0.9 per cent to 15 924 cases. Single parent cases also showed a decrease of 0.3 per cent to 28 201 cases.
Permanent disability, ill health and old age cases remained steady at 17 846, 24 467 and 146 058 cases respectively.
