Fatal traffic accident in Tai Po

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tai Po in the small hours today  (March 21) in which a 51-year-old man died.

     At about 3am, a taxi driven by the 51-year-old man was travelling along Lam Kam Road towards Pat Heung while a private car driven by a 45-year-old man was travelling along Lam Kam Road towards Tai Po. The two vehicles reportedly collided when approaching She Shan Road.

     The taxi driver, the private car driver and a 45-year-old female passenger of the private car were trapped inside the compartments and rescued by firemen. Sustaining injuries to his forehead and chest, the taxi driver was rushed to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital in unconscious state where he was certified dead at 3.52am. The private car driver and the private car passenger, who were in unconscious and semi-conscious states respectively, were sent to Prince of Wales Hospital.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North is underway.
