Fringe activities complement flower show at Victoria Park (with photos)
**********************************************************

The Hong Kong Flower Show at Victoria Park will close on Sunday (March 20). Featuring gorgeous landscape displays and beautiful floral arrangements, the flower show also offers a rich diversity of fringe activities for the enjoyment of visitors of all ages including music and cultural performances, floral art demonstrations, green activities workshops and fun games.

The "Happy Wonderland" on the park's lawns has been well received, providing fun-filled programmes such as magic shows, balloon-twisting, face-painting, African drum playing, arts-and-crafts stalls, games stalls and more. Equally entertaining are the marching band and music performances.

Various programmes are being held on the stage, including rope skipping, artistic gymnastics, music and dance performances. There are also floral art demonstrations by masters from Japan and Hong Kong.

This year's flower show is one of the events in the second batch of 10 highlight events under the "Appreciate Hong Kong" Campaign. Featuring "Blossoms in Vivid Art 2016" as the main theme, the show has attracted over 200 organisations from 17 countries to take part. More than 350 000 flowering plants are on display, among which are 60 000 pots of the theme flower Antirrhinum majus, commonly known as snapdragon.

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) is presenting a spectacular exhibit entitled "Beautiful Hong Kong in a Fusion of Flowers and Art". Another highlight is a carpet of flowers themed on four Chinese arts - the qin, Chinese chess, calligraphy and painting. The vibrant tulip display also attracts crowds of visitors taking photos.

Other main attractions include an "Appreciate Hong Kong" Campaign display with photo-taking features; a spectacular mosaiculture display showcasing the beauty of nature and the animal kingdom; an exhibition blending the elegance of floral motifs with women's cheongsams; and attractive landscape displays by local, Mainland and overseas organisations.

The flower show is open from 9am to 9pm. Admission tickets are being sold at the entrance to the Victoria Park showground throughout the show period. Octopus devices can be used to pay for admission.

     Admission fees are as follows:
