World-class Philadelphia Orchestra to perform in May (with photos)

     The Philadelphia Orchestra will come to Hong Kong to give two performances in May under the baton of its Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin. The concerts are part of the "Great Music 2016" series presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD).

     The first concert will take place at 8pm on May 19 (Thursday) at the Concert Hall of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, featuring Brahms' "Symphony No. 2 in D" and Rimsky-Korsakov's "Symphonic Suite Scheherazade".

     The programme of the second concert, to be held at the same venue at 8pm on May 20 (Friday), will comprise Beethoven's "String Quartet in F minor, 'Serioso'" (arranged by Mahler) and Bruckner's "Symphony No. 4 in E-flat, 'Romantic'".

     Founded in 1900, the Philadelphia Orchestra is one of the world's leading orchestras, renowned for its distinctive sound, its keen ability to capture the hearts and imaginations of audiences, and its legacy of innovation in music-making. He is Musical America's Artist of the Year 2016 and has been praised as "phenomenal" by the New York Times. The concerts will be his Hong Kong début.
