Fifteen building plans approved in January

     The Buildings Department approved 15 building plans in January, with two on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and 10 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, six were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, five were for commercial developments, three were for factory and industrial developments and one was for community services development.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 11 building projects that, when completed, will provide 237 008 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 4 104 units, and 80 951 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 15 building projects.

     The department also issued 14 occupation permits, with six on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and three in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 21 825 sq m, involving 199 units, and 82 158 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in January totalled about $3 billion.

     In addition, 11 demolition consents involving 11 building structures were issued.

     The department received 2 339 reports about unauthorised building works in January, and issued 702 removal orders on unauthorised works.
