Special stamp issue - Public Architecture in Hong Kong (with photos)
************************************************************

Hongkong Post today (March 16) announced the release of a set of special stamps on "Public Architecture in Hong Kong", together with associated philatelic products, which will go on sale from March 31 (Thursday).

The "Public Architecture in Hong Kong" stamp issue features six award-winning public and government facilities in Hong Kong, comprising the Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence ($1.70 stamp), Victoria Park Swimming Pool ($2.20 stamp), Sai Kung Waterfront Park ($2.90 stamp), Ping Shan Tin Shui Wai Leisure and Cultural Building ($3.10 stamp), Hong Kong Wetland Park ($3.70 stamp) and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department Headquarters ($5 stamp). These stamps highlight the architectural features and the key function of each facility to enhance appreciation of the high-quality public architecture around Hong Kong.

Public architecture helps shape the cityscape. In Hong Kong, the Architectural Services Department assists government bureaux and departments in delivering building projects of diverse nature in an environmentally responsible manner. This is well illustrated by the examples depicted in this stamp issue, which include work places and leisure and cultural facilities. They speak for the dedicated effort made collectively over the years to create a pleasant environment for local inhabitants to enjoy.

A set of picture cards with prepaid postage, featuring a three-dimensional view of the public and government facilities depicted on the special stamps, will be released for sale at all philatelic offices from March 31. Official First Day Covers will be on sale at $1.20 each at all post offices from March 17. The stamps and associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office, Sha Tin Central Post Office and Tuen Mun Central Post Office from the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from March 17 to 23.

Information about these special stamps and associated philatelic products is available on Hongkong Post's website at www.hongkongpost.hk and via the Hongkong Post mobile app.
