Housing Department strives to raise management and service standards for its PRH estates (with photo)
***********************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Housing Authority:

The Housing Department (HD) has always strived to raise the management and service standards of its public rental housing (PRH) estates.

"We have been doing well in recent years in combating tenancy abuse, promoting waste reduction and building a harmonious community," the Director of Housing, Mr Stanley Ying, said today (March 13) at the Estate Management Advisory Committees (EMACs) Seminar.

The HD handled 6 600 cases of random checking and suspected tenancy abuses last year.  Continuous reduction in waste has been recorded in PRH estates. The average rate of reduction was 11.5% in 2015. Over 400 community- building activities have been organised jointly by EMACs and non-governmental organisations annually.

Mr Ying said he hoped that EMACs would continue to join with the HD in building a better home for all PRH tenants.

The EMACs Seminar is organised biennially, with reducing waste, combating tenancy abuse and building a harmonious community as this year's themes. About 800 EMACs representatives exchanged views on estate management matters in PRH estates.

At the Seminar, EMACs representatives and HD staff jointly expressed, through different presentation formats, their support for the HD's work around the three main themes.
