Winners of Hong Kong Flower Show plant exhibit competition announced (with photos)

     The winners of the plant exhibit competition, which has been one of the most popular activities of the Hong Kong Flower Show, were announced today (March 12). At the prize presentation ceremony, two 2016 Hong Kong Flower Show Cups were awarded to the best exhibit in the Open Competition Section and School Section respectively.

     Mr Luo Shih-hsien won the Open Competition Section with his exquisite orchid, while students from SPHRC Kung Yik She Secondary School won the School Section with three pots of plants in hanging baskets.

     The winner of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) Western Style Garden Plot Competition was Yuen Long District, while the winner of the LCSD Oriental Style Garden Plot Competition was Sham Shui Po District.

     The flower show, one of the events in the second batch of 10 highlight events under the "Appreciate Hong Kong" Campaign, is now being held at Victoria Park until March 20 from 9am to 9pm daily. The show features "Blossoms in Vivid Art 2016" as the main theme and the Antirrhinum majus as the theme flower.

     More than 350 000 flowering plants, including 60 000 pots of Antirrhinum majus, are on display. The event has attracted more than 200 organisations from 17 countries to take part in showcasing exquisite potted plants, beautiful floral arrangements and gorgeous landscape displays, transforming Victoria Park into a colourful wonderland.

     A rich diversity of educational and recreational fringe activities are also being held for the enjoyment of visitors of all ages.

     Admission tickets are on sale at the entrance to the Victoria Park showground throughout the show period. Octopus devices can be used to pay for admission. Tickets are also available for sale at the LCSD's District Leisure Services Offices.

     Admission fees are as follows:

Normal rate: $14
Concessionary rate: $7
- Children aged 4 to 14 and full-time students
- Senior citizens aged 60 or above
- Persons with disabilities and their minders (each person can enjoy the concessionary rate with one minder only)

     The flower show is organised by the LCSD. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust is supporting the show for the fourth consecutive year, and has been its major sponsor since 2014.
