CE meets Financial Services Development Council members (with photos)
********************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Financial Services Development Council:

The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, met with the Chairman of the Financial Services Development Council (FSDC), Mrs Laura M Cha, and council members today (March 9) to exchange views on the development of Hong Kong's financial services industry. The meeting was followed by a lunch at Government House for members of the FSDC and its five committees.

Mr Leung thanked the members for their research and analysis efforts in various areas of the financial services industry and their efforts in enhancing the industry's competitiveness. He commended the FSDC for playing a crucial role in advising the Government on deepening and broadening the financial markets, thus helping to consolidate Hong Kong's position as an international financial centre and a "super-connector" between the Mainland and the world.

Since its establishment in 2013, the FSDC has published 20 substantive reports, including seven published last year. The FSDC has also organised and participated in a series of marketing and educational forums benefiting the industry and university students. Mr Leung said he hoped that the FSDC would continue to help formulate strategies and measures to promote the further development of Hong Kong's financial services industry, such as the internationalisation of Renminbi business and opportunities presented by the Belt and Road Initiative and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

About the FSDC

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government established the FSDC in 2013 as a high-level, cross-sectoral advisory body to engage the industry in formulating proposals to promote the further development of Hong Kong's financial services industry and to map out the strategic direction for development.

The FSDC has set up five committees, namely the Policy Research Committee, the Mainland Opportunities Committee, the New Business Committee, the Market Development Committee and the Human Capital Committee, as the five streams of its work.

Reports published by the FSDC can be downloaded from the FSDC website: www.fsdc.org.hk.
