LD holds occupational health public talks

     The Labour Department (LD) will hold a public talk entitled "Work and General Diseases (Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension)" on March 16 (Wednesday). The talk will briefly introduce the symptoms and treatment of diabetes mellitus and hypertension. It aims to promote the occupational health of employees with diabetes mellitus or hypertension, with emphasis given to health hints for working in hot environments, performing heavy manual work and working in irregular schedules.

     The talk will be held at 6.30pm in Activity Room 1, Hong Kong Central Library, 66 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. The LD's Occupational Health Nurse will give the talk.

     The LD will hold another talk entitled "Occupational Stress" on March 24 (Thursday). To promote employees' awareness of the issue, the talk will introduce the signs and symptoms of occupational stress and how occupational stress may affect employees' health. Coping strategies will also be discussed through case illustrations.

     The talk will be held at 3pm in Lecture Hall, Hong Kong Space Museum, 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. The LD's Occupational Health Nurse will give the talk.

     The talks will be conducted in Cantonese. Admission is free.
