SCED speaks on Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2014
**********************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, on the Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2014 at a media session in the Legislative Council Complex today (March 2):

Reporter: ... bridge the gap during this finale?

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: Believe me we have tried our very best for many, many months. In fact, this so called limited fair use proposal, I was the first one to float this idea to see whether we can have a convergence of views. Unfortunately, at this stage, there really is no agreement by the (copyright) owners as well as the netizens. And so therefore the balance that we have achieved in the current bill, it is really the best package that we could embody in this bill. And I think this bill should therefore be passed as soon as possible to update our copyright law.
