Territory-wide enforcement operation to promote Public Service Vehicles safety

     Police yesterday (March 1) concluded a one-week territory-wide enforcement operation to remind drivers of public service vehicles (PSV), including taxis, franchised public buses, public light buses, private light buses and school private light buses, of the importance of road safety.
 
     This was the latest in an ongoing series of operations conducted by the Police using enforcement to target moving traffic offences.
 
     The operation resulted in the issue of two verbal warnings, 164 summonses and 1 209 fixed penalty tickets.
 
     Among the summonses and fixed penalty tickets issued, 219 were for speeding, 170 for seatbelt-related offences, 80 for failing to comply with traffic signals, and 63 for using a hand-held mobile phone while driving.
