HK Central Library to hold talk on Hong Kong coastline transition
*******************************************************

The Hong Kong Public Libraries of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will hold a seminar entitled "Hong Kong Coastline Transition in Aerial Photographs" at 3pm on March 13 (Sunday) at the Lecture Theatre of the Hong Kong Central Library with Mr Tommy Au, a Land Surveyor from the Lands Department as the guest speaker.

We gain a panoramic view of landscape from high altitudes. With the development of aerial surveying, we can not only preserve panoramic views of the landscape, but also observe the transition of the landscape and coastline by comparing the aerial photographs taken at the same location in different periods. Mr Au will explore the transition of the coastline in Hong Kong through the aerial records from the 1940s and '50s to recent decades. He will also introduce the city's development of aerial surveying.

Mr Au is responsible for land boundary surveying and production of maps, and therefore has the opportunity to take panoramic views of Hong Kong from high altitudes and is familiar with the landscape of Hong Kong. He has published books on subjects related to aerial photography, and has also been invited to give talks on the related topics for public libraries.

The seminar will be conducted in Cantonese with free admission on a first-come, first-served basis. For enquiries, please call 2921 0351.
