Contractors fined for violation of safety legislation

Sum Kee Construction Limited and Hing Luen (Hong Kong) Scaffolding Limited were fined $100,000 and $120,000 respectively at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts today (February 26) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on February 28, 2015, in Wong Tai Sin. A scaffolder fell to his death while he was erecting a bamboo scaffold inside a lift shaft under construction on a construction site.
