The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, will visit Beijing from March 3 to 6. At the invitation of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Mr Leung will attend the opening ceremony of the fourth session of the 12th National People's Congress in Beijing on March 5.
While in Beijing, Mr Leung will call on officials from central ministries. The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam; the Secretary for Development, Mr Paul Chan; and the Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Mr Nicholas W Yang, will join Mr Leung for respective meetings. The Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Mr Edward Yau, and the Director of Information Services, Mr Patrick Nip, will also join the visit.
Mr Leung will depart for Beijing in the afternoon on March 2 and leave for Hong Kong in the evening on March 6. During his absence, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, will be the Acting Chief Executive.
