The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, met the President of Israel's Tel Aviv University, Professor Joseph Klafter, at the Chief Executive's Office this morning (February 26) to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.
Mr Leung said the Special Administrative Region Government is committed to developing Hong Kong into a regional innovation and technology hub. He visited Tel Aviv University last year and learned about their technology transfer programme, which is one of the world's leading programmes in the commercialisation of research and development.
He said he was pleased to see the university's research collaboration with different Hong Kong universities and looked forward to more joint efforts between the two places in higher education and scientific research in future. He also encouraged more students from Israel to study or take part in exchanges in Hong Kong.
