Hospital Authority announces senior appointments (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The Hospital Authority (HA) spokesman today (February 25) announced the following senior appointments:

(1) Dr Lee Tsz-leung as Hospital Chief Executive (HCE) of Hong Kong Children's Hospital (HKCH). The HKCH will commence service in 2018. To ensure dedicated leadership for the final phase of development, a full-time HCE for the hospital is essential. The appointment will be effective from April 1, 2016.

     Dr Lee Tsz-leung is an experienced paediatrician by background with special interest in paediatric rheumatology, and is currently the Chief Manager (Quality and Standards) at the HA Head Office. He is a seasoned senior executive who possesses both hospital and corporate management experience. In his current position, Dr Lee has formulated strategies and plans for corporate-wide hospital accreditation, through which the informed consent system and credentialing system are enhanced. He is also responsible for access management in elective surgery and specialist outpatient clinics (SOPC), developing SOPC performance indicators, as well as reviewing and modernising the management of operating theatres.

(2) Dr Chong Yee-hung as HCE of Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital (HKBH) and Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Wong Tai Sin Hospital (WTSH). Upon review of the profiles of existing public hospitals, the HA Board earlier endorsed the grouping of HKBH with WTSH's administrative duties. Dr Chong Yee-hung will take up the post of HCE for both hospitals with effect from April 1, 2016.

     Dr Chong Yee-hung is an ophthalmologist by background. He is currently Chief Manager of Kowloon West Cluster and Deputy Hospital Chief Executive of North Lantau Hospital (NLTH). Dr Chong assists the HCE in overseeing the overall development, operation management and commissioning work of NLTH. He is also responsible for steering the annual planning process and formulating strategies in the service development of Kowloon West Cluster.

(3) Dr Pang Fei-chau as HCE of Grantham Hospital (GH). Dr Pang will take up the post from May 7, 2016 upon the retirement of current incumbent Ms Margaret Tay. Dr Pang is a fellow of medicine and community medicine, and is currently the Chief Manager (Medical Grade) at the HA Head Office. In his current position, he has developed a system for enhancing simulation training development and provision for clinical staff, strengthened clinical training through crew resource management courses, and revamped the selection mechanism for resident trainees to ensure better co-ordination of trainee rotation across hospitals.

     The HA Chairman, Professor John Leong and the Chief Executive, Dr Leung Pak-yin congratulate Dr Lee, Dr Chong and Dr Pang on their new appointments and wish them every success in taking up the new posts.
