Temporary traffic arrangements for tram track renewal works in Shau Kei Wan from next Monday
************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (February 18) reminded the public that temporary traffic and transport arrangements to facilitate tram track renewal work in Shau Kei Wan will be implemented during the following periods. Details are as follows:

* During the period from February 22 to 24 (Monday to Wednesday), tram services between Sai Wan Ho and Shau Kei Wan, including eastbound service from Nam Hong Street to the Shau Kei Wan Terminus, and westbound service from the Shau Kei Wan Terminus to Hoi Foo Street, will be suspended.

* Passengers travelling between Sai Wan Ho and Shau Kei Wan can take alternative public transport services, including railway services and New World First Bus routes 2, 2X, 18X and 720.

* From 9am on February 24 (Wednesday) to 9am on February 29 (Monday), all vehicles exceeding 8 metres will be temporarily prohibited from turning right from Shau Kei Wan Road eastbound onto Factory Street and turning left from Shau Kei Wan Main Street East southbound onto Factory Street.

Appropriate traffic signs and road markings will be erected on-site to guide motorists. Hong Kong Tramways will display notices to alert passengers to the above tram service arrangements.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Members of the public are advised to use other public transport services, plan their journey beforehand and allow more travelling time to avoid any possible delay. Members of the public should also be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.

Details of the temporary traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the department's website (www.td.gov.hk).
