Thirteen building plans approved in December

     The Buildings Department approved 13 building plans in December, with four on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and six in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, six were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, five were for commercial developments and two were for factory and industrial development.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 25 building projects that, when completed, will provide 116 099 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1 379 units, and 265 373 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 17 building projects.

     The department also issued 27 occupation permits, with seven on Hong Kong Island, 11 in Kowloon and nine in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 108 557 sq m, involving 1 248 units, and 255 047 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in December totalled about $8.7 billion.

     In addition, 10 demolition consents involving 10 building structures were issued.

     The department received 2 990 reports about unauthorised building works in December, and issued 2 532 removal orders on unauthorised works.
