Pending fire and dead body found case in Tin Shui Wai reclassified as murder, arson and suicide

     Police today (February 16) reclassified a pending fire and dead body found case in Tin Shui Wai on February 6 as murder, arson and suicide.

     About 10.46am on that day, Police received a report from a 44-year-old woman that there was a dispute at a unit on Tin Lung Road in Tin Shui Wai.

     Police officers sped to the scene and found that the unit was on fire. After the fire was put out, Police found two charred bodies, which were later confirmed to be the informant's 46-year-old sister and her sister's 52-year-old boyfriend after investigation. A glass bottle containing suspected inflammable liquid was seized by officers at the scene.

     Further investigation by Police revealed that the 52-year-old man was suspected of having set fire in the unit to murder the 46-year-old woman and commit suicide.

     Initial post-mortem results revealed that the deceased died of extensive burnt.

     Active investigation by the District Crime Squad of Yuen Long is under way.
