No. 3 alarm fire in Lai Chi Kok roundup

     A No. 3 alarm fire broke out at an openground carpark and polystyrene foam storage area at Container Port Road South near Hing Wah Street West, Lai Chi Kok, this morning (February 13). The fire scene measured about 80 metres by 80 metres. A large quantity of polystyrene foam boxes was damaged by fire, and the fire was spread out to 32 vehicles nearby, including container trucks, container trailers, passenger coaches, medium goods vehicles, a light goods vehicle, a private car and a motorcycle.

     The fire broke out at 12.05am and was upgraded to No. 3 alarm at 12.17am. The fire was surrounded at 1.24am, put under control at 1.55am and largely put out at 2.10am.

     Firemen used six jets and eight breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze.

     No casualties have been reported.
