Police are investigating the death of a 24-year-old police officer in Chai Wan today (February 6).
At about 9.50am, Police found an on-duty Police Constable, who was attached to the Patrol Subunit of Chai Wan Police Division, locked himself inside a cubicle in a male washroom near Siu Sai Wan Market. Police broke into the cubicle and found him unconscious. Sustaining a gunshot wound to his head, he was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital and was later certified dead.
Upon initial investigation, it is believed that he committed suicide with his service revolver.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted later on the deceased to ascertain his cause of death.
Investigation by District Crime Squad of Eastern District is underway.
