SCED speaks on Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2014
**********************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, on the Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2014 at a media session in the Legislative Council (LegCo) Complex today (February 4):

Reporter: ... the meeting is adjourned. Would it affect the Government ... four-party meeting ... towards the pan-democrats?

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: In the best interest of Hong Kong, the Government is determined to update our copyright law. That's what we have been doing. We are waiting for LegCo to do its part to pass the bill in accordance with the procedures. I think what happened today is not a good indication that all parties are willing to collaborate in the best interest of Hong Kong. I would call upon LegCo members really to have the best interest of Hong Kong in view, and not to provoke others and create opportunities so that the council meeting is prematurely adjourned.

(Please also refer to the Chinese portion of the transcript.)
