The Hospital Authority (HA) spokesman announced today (January 28) that as Hong Kong is entering the Winter influenza season, all public hospitals under the HA have been closely monitoring the service demand of Accident and Emergency Departments and the occupancy rates of medical wards. Beginning today, key service statistics will be issued on a daily basis until February 15 (see appended table).
Furthermore, the HA will co-operate with the Centre for Health Protection to enhance the surveillance and reporting of severe and fatal cases of influenza. Members of the public are also advised to put on a face mask and perform hand hygiene for prevention of influenza when they visit public hospitals and clinics.
