CE to visit India

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, will lead a business delegation to visit India from February 2 to 4. They will meet with political and business leaders in India to foster closer economic and trade relations between Hong Kong and India.

     Mr Leung will visit Mumbai on February 2 and 3. He will meet with the Governor of Maharashtra, Mr Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao; the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr Devendra Fadnavis; and leaders of major Indian conglomerates. He will also attend luncheons hosted by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and visit Mumbai's stock exchange and Bharat Diamond Bourse.

     On February 4, Mr Leung will visit New Delhi to meet with senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Indian Government. He will also attend a luncheon and a dinner reception hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry and the HKTDC respectively, and visit the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

     Accompanying Mr Leung on the visit will be the Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Mr Edward Yau; the Director of Information Services, Mr Patrick Nip; the Private Secretary to the Chief Executive, Mr Carlson Chan; and the Assistant Director (Media), Mr Anson Lai.

     Mr Leung will depart for Mumbai in the evening on February 1 and return to Hong Kong in the morning on February 5. During his absence, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, will be the Acting Chief Executive.
