**********************************************************

About 1,500 visitors attended the Immigration Service Institute of Training and Development (ISITD) Open Day today (January 24). The ISITD Open Day is one of the highlight events of the "Appreciate Hong Kong" campaign.

In addition to exhibition and game booths, the open day included a performance by the Immigration Band as well as foot drills and a tactical training demonstration. The aim of the event was to give visitors a better understanding of the training and work of the Immigration Service, and to give them the opportunity to learn more about the historical development of the Immigration Department by visiting the ISITD Training Gallery.

The ISITD is located at Castle Peak Bay, Tuen Mun and was inaugurated in 2005. The institute is housed in a 13-storey purpose-built complex that offers a variety of training facilities and residential facilities. General facilities include a drill ground, classrooms, lecture theatre, indoor swimming pool, learning resource centre, information resource centre, obstacle training ground, physical fitness centre and a gymnasium equipped with an elevated running track. Specialised facilities such as a training centre for control point systems, video recording interview rooms and a mock court offer trainees job-related training in a realistic environment.
