Transcript of remarks by CS after meeting with District Councils (with video)
********************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, at a media session after meeting with the Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of the District Councils at Southorn Centre, Wan Chai today (January 21):

Reporter: Mrs Lam, but you said in the Sing Tao Daily report that you do not rule out withdrawing the copyright bill because of the controversy and to break the deadlock in LegCo.

Chief Secretary for Administration: Well, in these days I hope you all should appreciate that the Government could not rule out anything, because we are not operating in a normal environment. Very odd things are happening nowadays in the Legislative Council. This calling of quorum is wasting a lot of time of a lot of people. So in this sort of abnormal situation, it is not for me to say that something definitely would not happen or something definitely would happen. We have to monitor the situation very closely. But I can only say that up to this moment, we are very determined to get this Copyright (Amendment) Bill passed, because this has been discussed in the public domain and also within the Legislative Council for some time, and Hong Kong's copyright legislation and the whole legislative framework is lagging well behind, and it is time for us to come to a decision on this very important matter.
