Mariculturists at Yim Tin Tsai East fish culture zone who suffered serious losses associated with the recent fish kills can register with the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) on January 21 and 22 for assistance from an emergency relief fund.
An AFCD spokesman said today (January 18) that relief funds would be released to affected mariculturists according to established criteria with a view to providing them with some relief.
Recent reports of fish kills received from the fish culture zone are probably related to red tides and the occurrence of harmful algae.
Applicants for the fund should register at the Tai Po Wholesale Fish Market Office, 1 Yu On Street, Sam Mun Tsai, Tai Po, or call 2150 7108 for enquiries.
