Guangdong music concert with artists from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau to be staged in February

     As part of the Lingnan Music Series, a concert entitled "Nanyin in Guangdong Music: Talents from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao" will take place in February.

     The concert is staged under the Greater Pearl River Delta Cultural Cooperation Project presented by the Department of Culture of Guangdong Province, the Home Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macau Special Administrative Region Government; and organised by Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

     To promote the art of nanyin and keep this treasure of Guangdong music culture thriving for future generations, the governments of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau have combined in arranging this concert and have invited the most sought-after nanyin artists from the regions to perform together.

     The programme will feature one of Hong Kong's most well-known Cantonese opera and nanyin artists, Yuen Siu-fai, who will perform "Burning Funerary Goods for His Love" and "A Wanderer's Autumn Grief". Macau-based nanyin artist Au Kuan-cheong will perform "The Soul of Yuli" and "The Palace of Eternal Life". Chen Liying, a renowned nanyin artist from Guangzhou, will perform "Outcry in Governor Mui's Office". Additionally, Lin Tingting, a member of the Cantonese Music and Song Art Troupe, will perform "Speed of Life", while National Class Two Musician Pan Qianqian will perform the Cantonese operatic song "Meifen Bids Her Sad Goodbye" accompanied by guzheng.

     Hong Kong veteran musicians of Guangdong music including To Wing, Chan Kwok-fai, Yu Siu-wah and Chan Chi-chun, and the Cantonese Music and Song Art Troupe with He Kening, Huang Dingshi and Liu Guoqiang as main performers, will also participate in the programme.
