Entries invited for flower show plant exhibit competition

     The Hong Kong Flower Show 2016, presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), will be held in Victoria Park for 10 days from March 11 to 20 featuring "Blossoms in Vivid Art 2016" as the main theme and with Antirrhinum majus as the theme flower.

     Members of the public are invited to enrol for the plant exhibit competition. Applications are free of charge and will remain open until January 20.

     The competition is divided into 15 sections with 94 classes. The sections include orchid, Chinese cymbidium, potted plant, cactus and succulent, foliage and carnivorous plant, African violet, bonsai-type plant, floral arrangement in Western style and Oriental manner, floral art by schoolchildren, primary and secondary school potted plant growing/nursing, and the school garden plot competition.

     Completed entry forms should be submitted in person or by post to the Secretariat of the Show Committee of the Hong Kong Flower Show 2016 (11/F, Leisure and Cultural Services Headquarters, 1-3 Pai Tau Street, Sha Tin), or by fax (2691 7264), on or before January 20.

     Entry forms and rules of the competition are available at the following locations:

(1) the Secretariat of the Show Committee of the Hong Kong Flower Show 2016;
(2) Green Education and Resource Centre (1/F, Kowloon Park Office, 22 Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui);
(3) District Leisure Services Offices of the LCSD; and
(4) Public Enquiry Service Centres of the Home Affairs Department; or
(5) downloaded from the LCSD website www.lcsd.gov.hk.

     The flower show is a major annual LCSD event to promote horticulture and awareness of greening. Each year, it provides an opportunity for local people and horticulture lovers from all over the world to appreciate the beauty of flowers and share their experiences in horticulture.

     The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust is supporting the flower show for the fourth consecutive year, and has been the Major Sponsor of the flower show since 2014.
