Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Western District today (January 11) in which a 70-year-old man died.
At about 6.50am, a school bus driven by a 59-year-old woman was travelling along westbound Des Voeux Road West. When reaching the junction of Wilmer Street, it reportedly knocked down the 70-year-old man who was crossing the road.
Sustaining serious head injuries, the man was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital in unconscious state. He was certified dead at 7.29am.
The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained pending further enquiries.
Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island, is underway.
