The Labour Department and the Hong Kong Youth Power Association will jointly hold the North District Recruitment and Training Expo 2016 at Po Wing Road Sports Centre in Sheung Shui on January 13.
A total of 64 organisations will participate in the Expo. Fifty-seven organisations, mainly from the retail, catering and property management industries, offering about 4 300 vacancies, will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment. Seven training organisations will provide information on training courses to visitors. Three skill demonstration sessions have also been arranged for the afternoon.
The vacancies offered cover a wide variety of positions including instructor, clerk, technician, courier, salesperson, cashier, shop assistant, cook, waiter/waitress, security guard, driver, storekeeper, health service worker and others. Job seekers can find more information on the department's Interactive Employment Service website (www.jobs.gov.hk).
Around 73 per cent of the vacancies are full-time jobs. Most vacancies offer monthly salaries ranging from $8,000 to $15,000. Over 97 per cent of the vacancies require a Secondary Six education level or below. Around 72 per cent are open to job seekers who may lack relevant experience.
Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. They can also register for employment services and make enquiries on the Work Incentive Transport Subsidy Scheme at the Labour Department's counter.
The Expo will be held from 11am to 5.30pm at Po Wing Road Sports Centre, 19 Pak Wo Road, Sheung Shui (next to Sheung Shui Government Secondary School). Admission is free.
