Mariculturists at Yim Tin Tsai, Yung Shue Au, Lo Fu Wat and Sham Wan fish culture zones who suffered serious losses associated with the recent spate of fish kills can register with the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) according to the schedule below for assistance from an emergency relief fund.

An AFCD spokesman said today (January 9) that relief funds would be released to affected mariculturists according to established criteria with a view to providing them with some relief.
Reports of fish kills had been received from these four fish culture zones since more than two weeks ago. The fish kills are probably related to red tides and the occurrence of harmful algae.
Applicants for the fund should register at the Tai Po Wholesale Fish Market Office, 1 Yu On Street, Sam Mun Tsai, Tai Po, or call 2150 7108 for enquiries.
