SCED speaks on Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2014 (2)
**************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, on the Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2014 at a media session in the Legislative Council Complex today (January 8):

Reporter: Mr So, do you think the meeting just now has at all managed to narrow both sides' differences on the amendments?

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: I would not want to comment on whether it has narrowed the gap or not. But in any event, any exchange of views, expressing them more clearly, particularly on the side of the copyright owners' alliance, I think it was very helpful. The comment and the description of how these amendments would impact significantly on the mode of operation. And I would say the space where they can operate and a creative environment, this is very crucial. They explained how it directly impacted their income, the revenue consideration. I think these are very concrete terms that have been explained. I think the message has come across very clearly to the pan-democratic LegCo members.
