Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, at a media session after attending the Legislative Council meeting today (January 6):

Reporter: The Global Times has suggested that the Mainland authorities have ways to get around Hong Kong laws to do whatever they want. Are you aware of this situation? Secondly, do you have the full co-operation from Mainland authorities over the whereabouts of Lee Bo?

Secretary for Security: All persons in Hong Kong should abide by the laws of Hong Kong. This is laid down very clearly in the Basic Law as well as the local laws. In respect of the Hong Kong law enforcement agencies, we will strictly act in accordance with the law.

Reporter: Are Mainland authorities co-operating with the Hong Kong Government's request to seek the whereabouts of Lee Bo and other missing persons?

Secretary for Security: We have an established mechanism that we can request each other for assistance. There are (in the) past quite a lot of examples of cases that the Hong Kong authorities asked the Mainland authorities to assist us on various issues and we have seen very positive replies.
