Hongkong Post today (December 30) reminded the public that the revised principal postage rates, i.e. the postage rates for Local Mail (Letters and Packets), Air Mail (Letters and Packets), Surface Mail (Letters and Packets) and Local Parcels, will take effect on January 1, 2016. Under a new arrangement to be implemented on the same date, the postage rates for letters and packets will be set by reference to mail format classification, namely Small Letters, Large Letters and Packets, and weight. Mailers are reminded that underpaid mail items will be subject to delay and a surcharge.
The Postage Rates and Services brochure has been updated for distribution at post offices from January 1. Postage calculators are available at the Hongkong Post website (www.hongkongpost.hk) and the Hongkong Post mobile app to help the public calculate the correct postage. To assist mailers to top up postage in mail preparation, definitive stamp packs in $0.10, $0.20 and $0.50 denominations are available for sale at convenience stores.
Letter Format Indicators will be available at all post offices for the public to check their mail items before posting. Members of the public may also obtain a printed version of the Letter Format Indicator from post offices for handy reference.
