Regional Traffic Day of Hong Kong Island

     Police officers issued a total of 932 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 60 summonses to road users violating traffic regulations during the Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island today (December 21).
 
     During the operation, a total of 321 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western Districts were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black spots on Hong Kong Island.
 
     A total of 754 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 178 for other traffic offences.

     A pedestrian and 126 drivers were cautioned for committing minor traffic offences.
 
     Statistics revealed that a total of 2,624 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island from January to November 2015, of which 814 cases with pedestrians injured. Among the traffic accidents with pedestrians injured, 40.7 per cent were attributed to the negligence of pedestrians.
