LegCo Panel on Home Affairs visits Hong Kong Sports Institute (with photos)

     The Legislative Council (LegCo) Panel on Home Affairs conducted a visit to the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) today (December 21) to better understand the latest development of the HKSI and the training of elite athletes provided by the HKSI.

     Accompanied by the Chairman of the HKSI, Mr Carlson Tong, and the Chief Executive of the HKSI, Dr Trisha Leahy, Members visited the HKSI Main Building and toured around a number of athlete training facilities on the HKSI's premises, including the Sports Medicine Centre and the Sport Biomechanics & Technology Centre operated by the Elite Training Science & Technology Division of the HKSI. Members were able to get a better understanding of the educational and career development support, as well as the latest training technology for elite athletes provided by the HKSI.

     Members then attended a lunch with representatives of the HKSI. They took the opportunity to exchange views on the training of elite athletes and the future development of the elite training programme.

     Members who participated in the visit included the Chairman of Panel on Home Affairs, Ms Starry Lee and the Panel member, Dr Fernando Cheung, as well as Mr Kenneth Leung who is a non-Panel member.
