Building Safety Pioneer Programme Drama Camp concludes successfully (with photos)
*******************************************************

Organised by the Buildings Department (BD), the 2015-16 Building Safety Pioneer Programme (BSPP) three-day Drama Camp concluded successfully today (December 21). Some 50 Building Safety Pioneers (BSPs) learned more about the importance of building safety and how to disseminate building safety messages to the public through drama performances.

Held at Breakthrough Youth Village in Sha Tin, the drama camp featured many activities including interactive games on building safety, drama training sessions, performance sessions and experience sharing sessions.

Local arts group iStage was invited as the instructors of the drama camp. The arts group taught participants various drama techniques. Under the guidance of the instructors, the youngsters put great effort into practising and performed well in the drama performance sections. The three most devoted teams were awarded the gold, silver and bronze prizes of the Best Effort Award.

The BSPs will put the knowledge and techniques learnt in the drama camp into practice later. They will stage performances at various places, including elderly care centres and schools, in January to June next year to disseminate building safety messages to the public. They will also perform at the Building Safety Week 2016 from April 16 to 22.

Organised by the BD and co-organised by the Education Bureau, the BSPP aims to enhance youngsters' awareness of their living environment and help them develop their sense of responsibility through one year of diverse activities. The programme also enables them to have a better understanding of the importance of building safety and the responsibilities of building owners.

Apart from the drama camp, there are also many other activities under the programme including visits to buildings in old districts to see the results of building rehabilitation, workshops organised by the BD and professional building organisations, and visits to workplaces of the related professionals (architects, engineers and surveyors).
