Normal results for water samples in paediatric ward

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The Hospital Authority (HA) today (December 18) announced that the lead levels in the water samples collected in the paediatric ward of Tseung Kwan O Hospital (TKOH) were within the acceptable level set out in the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO).

     "Following the procedures advised by the Water Supplies Department, two water samples were collected in the paediatric ward of TKOH," the HA spokesman said.

     "According to risk assessment made earlier by toxicology experts and related specialists, the HA has started to conduct water tests in the paediatric wards of public hospitals with young children under the age of 6 since September 24 and all the tests in the public hospitals concerned have now been completed," the spokesman added.
